My second bike was an SV650 bobber that I made. She was fun.

Well, they’re great bikes. I rode a 650 that belonged to a buddy, loved it. It’s one of a very few motorcycles I would like to own.

Love mine! I’ve owned supersports, cruisers, dual sports, superbikes, but the SV really hits my “Goldilocks” zone for power and weight on the street.
Finally getting the rest of the parts to finish my build too! Have a custom triple coming in that will allow proper mounting of my ignition, gauges, and a pro-taper handlebar!

oooh tell me more about that triple. I might try to do the GSX-R fork swap for a winter project and I want to keep regular bars, ignition, and gauges.

There is a guy on the forum that does runs of these maybe twice a year. It looks remarkably similar to the one that I’d designed myself and was cheaper than any of the quotes I received to have mine machined.

I have had my share of time a ‘70 Honda XL500S and a Bandit 600. So I will try one out and see if it is too much or not. Eventually.

Street Triple is a fantastic bike as well, very similar but with less power. Awesome to ride.

To be fair, decay’s is really only 3/4 of an SV still.

Disclaimer: I don’t have an SV; just a normal street bike. So I can only advocate towards getting a bike, not an SV.

I prefer the speed triple over the street triple.

Oh so you both ride SV-XR’s. That’s cool! I had no idea yours was modified too. Did you have the same fork issue as decay needing a different triple?

Fair enough. It’s an awesome bike. But those insurance costs!

Good point. No cop will ever catch you, and if you crash you won’t have any cares in this world anyway.

I know, I’m a little sad I didn’t know about it before I went through the effort.

At least there is a certain amount of pride that goes along with putting the effort in.

Yes and no. Mine being a fully faired model, has all of the gauges and everything mounted on the fairing braket. Only thing I had issues with was the key cylinder, which was on the wrong side for the bike. I just bolted it to the fairing and called it a day
